Privacy

We keep as little as we can.

Effective October 11, 2026. Last changed October 17, 2026 (the banner ad, under Advertising).

  • No accounts, no email, no names. Nothing on this site asks who you are or where you live, and there is no box to type into except the binder-link box.
  • Lesson checks and the Review are graded and forgotten. Your "lesson done" marks live only in your own browser (local storage).
  • The crisis question in the Walk-through never leaves your browser. It has no field name, so it is not sent with the form.
  • Walk-through answers travel in the page address so you can print or bookmark the sheet. Like any web page address, it appears in the web server's standard access log, which the server keeps for a short time. Nothing is saved in our database unless you save it to a binder.
  • A binder stores your multiple-choice answers, the place you picked from a list, the score and the date. The binder key is kept only as a one-way scrambled copy.
  • Cookies: two, both necessary. A form-safety cookie on pages with a form (it stops other sites posting forms as you), and the binder cookie, only once you start a binder, so this browser can open it.
  • Abuse limits count requests per connection using a salted, scrambled form of the address, cleared after two days.
  • No analytics services, no tracking cookies, no outside fonts. The only outside script is the one banner ad from adengine.us on public reading pages, described under Advertising; it also counts one page view per page as a daily total. The site sends no email.
  • Backups: the database is copied nightly and the last 14 copies are kept on the same server, then replaced.

Advertising

Since October 17, 2026 the public reading pages (home, the class list, the lessons, the Teaching Kits list, the Ask card, Sources, Pricing and About) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC’s own services. Help now, the hard-times lesson, the Walk-through and your Household Sheets, lesson checks, the Review, the Teaching Kit pages, your binder, this page, the terms and error pages show no banner and load nothing from adengine.us.

To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests (the site’s address only, not the page’s).

  • No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
  • How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC’s own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
  • What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
  • Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
  • Nothing about you is sold or shared.
